Overview

Egypt Through The Eyes Of The Goddess is part of our Living History collection—a tour that boasts the perfect combination of historical discovery and gentle adventure, all wrapped up in a luxurious package of comfort throughout. We explore must-see destinations such The Pyramids of Giza, Egyptian Museum, Valley of the Kings, and the marvel that is the UNESCO site of Abu Simbel.

The jaw-droppingly historical city of Luxor welcomes us with open arms and the mind-blowing splendors that are the Temples of Karnak, Luxor, and Hatshepsut. But excitingly we also include some of the lesser visited destinations the country has to offer, allowing us the luxury of exploration unencumbered by crowds and offering experiences that so many visitors fail to encounter in their rush to tick off all the “big ticket” items.

We also take to the swirling waters of the Mighty Nile River on a 3 day/2 night cruise courtesy of a beautifully traditional method of transport unbeknown by most—the Dababiyya. These gorgeous sailboats offer a truly intimate alternative to the larger cruise ships that carry the hoards. Instead we luxuriate in small group travel, looked after by a dedicated crew who genuinely interact and spoil us with traditionally cooked meals to suit all palates, pampering guests with wonderful facilities and the ultimate in comfort.

The adventurous side of the tour continues throughout with never-to-be-forgotten treats such as horseback ride in the desert at sunset, traversing the passageways of Karnak Temple during a spectacular sound and light show, a traditional Nubian village experience, and the not-to-be-missed chance to barter like a local in the frenetic souks of Cairo.

For those who yearn for a truly authentic Egyptian experience with the ultimate in upgraded accommodation and quality dining throughout, this is the perfect combination tour that packs in a huge amount but has been perfectly orchestrated to build in more than enough free time for relaxation as well.

DAY 2 - Cairo | Memphis - Sakkara - Pyramids

Today is a true combination of exploration, culture, and iconic country landmarks. After an early breakfast we hit the road for the easy journey to Memphis. Thousands of years older than its Tennessee namesake, this is home to the second largest sphinx in Egypt and a plethora of towering statues, including that of Rameses II. This UNESCO site will captivate you like no other, not only because of its awe-inspiring history, but the way your guide brings the tales to life. Memphis dates back over 5,200 years, and is the oldest capital city in Egypt. Feast your eyes on amazing antiquities and prized possessions of many pharaohs and kings.

We have plenty of time to explore the Pyramids of Sakkara, an incredible necropolis that’s home to the oldest of all of the country’s tombs—the Step Pyramid. And at more than 7,000 years old this takes experiencing history to a whole new level! Prepare to gaze in wonder when you enter these sacred tombs, laying a privileged eye upon inscriptions chiseled out by craftsmen not simply of yesteryear, but of an age that we today can only dream of.

Returning to Cairo our journey into the peculiarities of ancient Egyptian, we get the incredible opportunity to step inside the Khufu Pyramid, an experience that will leave you humbled to have trod the same pathway that esteemed royalty deemed to be suitable to pause before continuing their journey into the afterlife.
Lunch is taken during the day at one of Cairo’s most iconic restaurants, El Felfalah, and dinner brings a unique experience aboard The Pharaohs Cruising Restaurant—a glorious boat inspired by the solar ship we’ve seen earlier, where we dine in style and are entertained by the colorful spectacle of a traditional Egyptian show.

Then we head for what is perhaps one of the most famous landmarks in all of Egypt, the Valley of the Kings.
